The increase in the number of tourists in the area leads to the creation of jobs and diversification of income sources for the residents of Tecșești and neighboring villages.
Students can practice the profession of architectural restorer by participating in the creation of a model for the restoration and valorization of traditional houses.
We promote responsible tourism, considering the fragility and invaluable value of nature, with a focus on the natural reserves in the museum area.
Tourists will be able to stay in the museum’s households, having access to an applied history through which they will learn about the customs of traditional Romanian culture.
Tecșești is an isolated hamlet in the Trascău Mountains (Întregalde commune, Alba county), located near the natural reserve of Piatra Cetii, at an altitude of 1000 meters. The area is distinguished by its geological, paleontological, speleological, and botanical complexity and includes numerous nationally protected natural areas. Most of the households in Tecșești have remained uninhabited, deteriorating with each passing day. The village suffers from massive depopulation.
In 2014, we laid the foundations for a project aimed at changing this situation: La Origini – The Living Museum of Tecșești.
Transforming the village of Tecșești into a vibrant center of culture and sustainability, reviving local traditions, and promoting an ecological and authentic way of life.
We are revitalizing the community of Tecșești by creating a cultural and educational space that promotes traditional values, provides opportunities for learning and development, and supports the conservation of the environment through sustainable practices.
The aim is to implement a sustainable development model for rural areas by leveraging heritage and protected natural reserves.
“Summer Schools” of vernacular architecture, restoration, arts, and crafts.
Restoration of the straw-thatched roof buildings in the village, preserving their authenticity and traditional architecture.
Transition to a smart, resilient, and appealing village for new residents and tourists.
Implementing social projects for children from vulnerable backgrounds, providing an ideal environment in nature for the development of specific skills.
A living museum is a type of museum that recreates historical settings to simulate a past time period, providing visitors with an experiential interpretation of history.
The Summer Workshop is organized in the form of vernacular architecture (re)creation camps, where participants put into practice 100% ecological construction notions.
In architecture, “vernacular” is the term used to describe popular constructions, built by individuals whose main activity is not necessarily in the field of construction. It relies on an empirical knowledge of materials, gained over time through repeated trials.
We are strongly committed to the well-being of the community and believe in providing equal opportunities for all children. Children from vulnerable backgrounds are the primary target of this school.
Providing an ideal natural setting for skill development, with a focus on handcrafting and do-it-yourself (DIY) activities.
This initiative represents a collaborative effort to offer children from vulnerable backgrounds meaningful opportunities for development in a safe and inspirational environment.
Craft and Art Workshop for discovering and developing each child’s talents and skills.
Outdoor activities for personal exploration in a safe and inspirational environment.
